In the late 1960s, Doug Lynn was working with KOM International founder Sydney Kom, consulting to global retail grocery firms to achieve warehousing operations excellence. In the early 1970s a number of BC-based projects exposed Doug to the west coast, motivating him to move permanently to the West Coast. He formed Kom Lynn Associates Ltd. (KLA) in 1973 in Vancouver, BC, originally as a partnership with Sydney Kom.
